- Thurmont Heritage Days is a non-profit organization that was organized to celebrate Thurmont, Maryland's history. Joe Eyler, a native resident of Thurmont, Maryland organized Thurmont Heritage Days. Joe thought this would be a wonderful way to show how our heritage has blossomed from the 1800's to present.
- Thurmont Heritage Days was organized by Joe Eyler to celebrate Thurmont's History. Home of the first match made in North and South America. Industries were big in town.
We held our 1st annual event on May 29,30, and 31st 2009 in Thurmont Community Park. This was our first annual event and we had a lot of fun. Exhibitors included, Antique Cars, Trucks, Tractors, and Motors. We had a working sawmill, shingle mill, blacksmith. We had numerous vendors to include hand made items, chair canning, chainsaw sculptures to name a few. There was live music, food and ice cream. We also had a Ride in the Country with our Covered Wagon, tractors, trucks, cars. For the children there was Barrel Train rides around the park, games and contest.
- We also held contest for the adults as well, all who won received a ribbon and certificate. Contest were: Beard Contest, Pig Calling Contest, Baby Contest, Cross Cut Log Cutting Contest, and King and Queen Contest. There was a Baked Goods Judging and Auction.
